&lt;p&gt;Opentil’s office hours…&lt;/p&gt;</description><link>http://opentil.tumblr.com/post/4864105927</link><guid>http://opentil.tumblr.com/post/4864105927</guid><pubDate>Sat, 23 Apr 2011 05:58:36 -0700</pubDate><category>brooklyn</category><category>nyc</category><category>new york</category><category>open late</category></item><item><title>The Story of Opentil</title><description>&lt;p&gt;The story of Opentil begins in January 2010 in Tempe, Arizona.  There, a ragtag group of misfit hackers began to routinely convene in &lt;a target="_blank" href="http://xtremebeancoffee.com/home.php"&gt;one&lt;/a&gt; of Arizona&amp;#8217;s two* 24-hour (sorta) coffee houses to tackle an application to the IRS for having &lt;a target="_blank" href="http://www.heatsynclabs.org"&gt;HeatSync Labs&lt;/a&gt; recognized as a federal 501(c)3 non-profit organization, which it was &lt;a target="_blank" href="http://www.heatsynclabs.org/heatsync-labs-a-501c3-hackerspace/"&gt;approved for over a year later&lt;/a&gt;.  The paperwork made a number of us hungry, but we had no way to know what restaurant would be open or if they would have wifi.  We ran into the same problem so many times that I began to notice it was a problem.  Digging through restaurant pages and review sites and hoping hours were being kept up-to-date or even included was becoming a repeated, noticeable nuisance and I kept looking for something that would be able to solve it.  What was out there just wasn&amp;#8217;t good enough, and I wanted something &lt;em&gt;better&lt;/em&gt;.  To my surprise, there was nothing I found in the vastness of cybersauce in 2010 devoted to answering the simple question of &lt;em&gt;how late is stuff around me open &amp;#8216;til?&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;After over a year of having to ask that question, I&amp;#8217;ve decided to build a means to answer it.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;.dh&lt;/p&gt;
